The downside...
…of living in a town like Austin where the mass majority of people are not native is that everyone, I mean, everyone, leaves during the holidays. I cannot afford this because of the nature of my work. Therefore, I am stuck in Austin during Christmas with hardly a soul to hang out with and nothing to do. awesome. forever alone. :(

Elijah Wood Loves Austin.
For the second time this fall, I have run into Elijah Wood. This time outside the Alamo Drafthouse at like, 1AM. The other time was outside the Brixton in early October. But then I was wasted beyond repair and didn’t even know it was him. This time, I was dead sober and just got out of a shitty movie, the temperature has dropped by like 25 degrees, and I feared that he would remember me as...

goingforpicture: This is the trailer for the short film, The Man Who Never Cried. I posted about working on this film back in August/September. I was the 2nd Assistant Director on it. The film stars Keir O’Donnell (Wedding Crashers) & Jess Weixler (Teeth) and is a fantastic testament to the amount of talent that thrives in the Austin film community. This was one of my favorite productions to...

Dear Austin,
I’m back from West Texas and (mostly) recovered. I see that you have built some random ugly poles into the sides of I-35 with LED lights attached. I am glad you wasted money on this project. How San Antonio of you. Regardless, it’s good to be back in town with my shirtless neighbor who gives me peace signs as I walk by and Epoch Mexican Hot Chocolates.

Dear Austin,
I am leaving your city limits for 6 weeks for a film shoot out in Van Horn/El Paso & San Antonio (ugh). Here are the things I will miss and will eagerly look forward to coming home to: -the season of random marathons, walkathons, and other strange events that shut down every other bussing route -the Liberty, the Brixton, Shangrila, Barflys, and Lovejoys -trees, vegetation, and plant life...

Totally met Elijah Wood last night.
On a street corner outside the Brixton. I was too drunk to recognize it was him even though he told me his name and everyone was freaking out. best birthday ever I fucking love this town.

Pimping the Austin Film/TV Community...
goingforpicture: Hey everyone! Please check out My Generation on ABC (Thursdays, 8/7c) I know a lot of great folks who worked hard to make this show happen and we’d like to all stay employed! I just worked with Keir (guy who plays the nerdy teacher) on that short film, The Man Who Never Cried. I am so proud of everyone working on this! You can watch both episodes on Hulu and ABC!

WHAT. THE. FUCK.
Did not grab a photo of it, but driving by the Hi How Are You mural today on guadalupe, we noticed that SOME MOTHERFUCKER SPRAYPAINTED WHITE OVER THE EYEBALLS. Wtf. There is so much graffiti space in this city, it’s not even funny. Don’t fuck with a landmark.

Epoch Tales #1
Ok, middle aged dude bro playing Bejewelled at TOP VOLUME for the past hour and a half. I am so glad you are the King of Internet Bling, but you’re ruining the Scott Biram soundtrack, especially because the version you are playing talks to you back in some ridiculously low, cartoony voice every time you get a 6-across super special bonus score.  Mute your computer before I punch the jewels...

People are upset that I like the Highland Mall.
I live next to it. It’s empty, no one bugs me if I’m going there to get a bra, and yes, as I said, I’m particularly psyched about ghetto girl skinny jeans being $10.  I hate Barton and I hate the Domain, namely because I don’t really give two shits about brand name clothing or designer labels. I don’t have the money or time to think about these things. Not that I...

Dear Austinites.
You live in Texas. You are near the equator and several deserts. OF COURSE IT’S FUCKING HOT.  Jeeeeeze.  Slap some sun screen on and a pair of sunglasses and keep some water handy. You won’t die. This ain’t 5 degrees where your fingers can fall off.  Shut up already. It beats 6 months of winter. Trust me. The More You Know.

My first day off (back in Austin)
Included a man dressed like a stereotypical Native American chief, another man blatantly smoking weed as he crossed the intersection with a large walking stick, and sidewalk chalk that simply said: “vagina necklace!” It’s good to be back.

San Antonio vs. Austin
Yeah… there’s no comparing. Despite the inherent douchiness of 6th street, I will take that over the plastic yuppie tourist trap that is the Riverwalk any fucking day. Miss you, Austin. Be back soon enough <3

You guys are the best.
And you know what else is best besides you guys and being completely wasted at 3AM? The Capital Metro.  Because after the 338 Lamar bus broke the fuck down at the Hancock HEB tonight, they sent a fucking SWEET AIR CONDITIONED, CLEAN ASS VAN to pick my sad self up and it was better than any cab ride ever. They dropped me off in front of the highball and I didn’t even have to pay the fare....

Woke Up This Morning
to the sound of a spray paint gun type apparatus that seemed to be coming directly from my backyard. My room is in the back of the house and I have my own private entrance so anything that goes on back there, I am privy to it instantly (if I’m home).  Turns out my neighbor, who has been building a MASSIVE shed/barn like thing in his backyard, decided to spray paint the now completed...

Austin Fights! →
This town is not really known for its violent crime, but with the amount of cheap booze, open bars, bands playing, hot chicks, and stolen fixed gear bikes, a good ol’ fashioned bar brawl is always on the verge of happening. For the most part, people don’t really get hurt. But they get humiliated. This blog above is one of those things I love here and playing a game of “spot my...

Things I do NOT like about this town #1
My poor cat’s skin allergies. All the fur on her stomach is gone. I feel so bad for her. I am going to pick up some allergy meds for her and a cortisone shot, but ugh. She’s got such a beautiful coat and something in the air here is making her eat her damn skin.  BOOO.  BOOO I SAY.

Random Little Things I Love #4
Speed suits. Or rompers. Jumpers. whatever you call them. So necessary for this town. You never have to think about the two elements of your outfit. It’s the ultimate slacker uniform. I found a short legged/short sleeved Dickies one for $12 at Buffalo Exchange yesterday and this is following my friend buying a powder blue one from Blue Velvet. It’s time, Austin, it’s time to...

Off-Topic: Screenplay Writing
I’m seriously considering giving screenplay format lessons for like dirt cheap. It seems these big film schools have forgotten the importance of teaching the format. Just because you have Final Draft or Celtx, it does not mean you don’t need to know the backbone of screenplays: the format. It’s super important to production and when you have to break the script into elements, you...
